NFL Week 4 Waiver Wire Breakdown
As usual, the duo hopped on the Fantasy Flex pod on Tuesday and discussed all things related to Week 4 waiver candidates. In fact, they said two running backs who profile as deal upside backup running backs are available in over 60% of leagues! Find out more below.

* Availability in home leagues is noted in parentheses.
QB Daniel Jones, Giants (94%)
- My comp for Malik Nabers was Ja’Marr Chase. I was saying to simply imagine Ja’Marr Chase with Daniel Jones throwing him the ball
- It’s not an ideal situation for Nabers, really, but he’s so good he’s making Daniel Jones look good, too
- After Week 1, Jones finally realized he should just force the ball to Nabers. He now has back-to-back games with two pass TDs (QB10 over last two games)
- His rushing upside has been somewhat limited due to his ACL recovery, but I expect him to scramble more going forward as he gets more comfortable with his knee
- Cowboys’ pass defense has struggled and ranks 28th in DVOA, so it’s a sneaky spot for him to potentially keep up his top 10 production over the past two weeks
- Opens the week as my QB14. With a wider range of outcomes, I would lean into him if I’m an underdog and play him TNF. He also helps with future sit/start decisions.
RB Braelon Allen, Jets (64%)
- As good as he’s been as a rookie, there is still a very low chance he would ever leapfrog Breece Hall as the lead-back without an injury
- But he’s been seeing enough volume to potentially offer RB3/Flex value in the right matchups
- Specifically, when the Jets should win easily, play with a leading game script
- Given how good Aaron Rodgers has looked recently, it could be more often than not
- Have a great matchup at home against the Broncos this week that could be the case
- Allen would also become a clear RB2, must start if Breece Hall ever misses time
- He’s a must-add (and has been one)
RB Bucky Irving, Buccaneers (64%)
- Well, I’ve been hinting at this for a while now, but it appears to be happening as Bucky may have forced the TB backfield to be more of an even-split committee
- He’s clearly been the most efficient back and Rachaad White has struggled with efficiency his whole career
- Todd Bowles has said that he’s earned more reps
- I don’t think we can consider Bucky a must-start just yet but he’s certainly in the RB3/Flex now and offers potential RB2 value if White ever misses time and even has the potential to offer that value w/o an injury to White
WR Jauan Jennings, 49ers (67%)
- With so many pass catchers out with CMC/Deebo/Kittle out, Jennings shot up my Week 3 ranks as a WR3/Flex option
- He delivered big time with a massive 11/175/3 game
- He will be in the WR3 mix as long as Deebo is out; if Kittle is out again could push WR2 value
- But I would be careful bidding too much on him unless you really need a 1-3 week rental
- The time to really add him was last week before the blow-up game. He now might require a bid that’s probably too high in most leagues
WR Romeo Doubs, Packers (57%)
- Doubs was dropped in quite a few leagues after Jordan Love went down
- He wasn’t going to be an option with Malik Willis under center and run-heavy offense
- However, he’s been operating as the clear #1 WR in terms of his routes run rate
- Will get a huge boost with Jordan Love back, probably can’t trust him against the Vikings but he makes a nice bench stash
- Packers WR room is crowded, but if anyone outside of Doubs misses time, it could push him into WR3 range
TE Tyler Conklin, Jets (85%)
- Last week Conklin had a big game (5/93/0) and he’s a player I thought could have a breakout with Aaron Rodgers
- His underlying usage has been very encouraging coming off a game with a 95% routes run rate, (90% on the year)
- Rodgers is playing well and Conklin doesn’t have a receiving TD yet, but still a chance he could turn into one of Rodgers’ top red zone targets
- With the TE position such a mess right now, Conklin is a sneaky bet to emerge as a TE1
K Matt Prater, Lions (90%)
- My K1 to open the week
- Cardinals are at home against the Commanders
- Have the highest team total to open the week
- Prater is excellent, especially from 50+
- Fire him up this week
DEF Titans (96%)
- Open the week as my DEF5 a lot of the top options are DEF that are already owned in most leagues
- Sneaky spot for them despite being at Miami w/ Tua expected to miss his second straight game after suffering a concussion
- Skylar Thompson was a disaster last week
- The backup is Tim Boyle
- Titans have a few new pieces on defense, and we could see them start to really jell soon
- Jefferey Simmons picked up an arm injury, so I’ll be monitoring his status; if he’s out, we could see the Titans plummet outside of my top 10
- Seems like a fairly tricky week for DEF streamers
