NFL Week 14 Waiver Wire Adds
* Availability in home leagues is noted in parentheses.
Quarterback
Russell Wilson (64%)
- Coming off a 400+ yard passing game with 3 TDs
- That was against a very weak Bengals defense
- But he’s been solid for them, and I think 8 different pass catchers had a 20+ yard pass
- Faces a Browns defense that has struggled against the pass, ranks 27th in DVOA against the pass
- Having allowed the most yards per reception to WRs, could be a great spot for George Pickens
- Opens the week as my QB11
Running Back
Isaac Guerendo (92%)
- Gonna require a max FAAB bid, #1 in waivers in order to get him
- We haven’t really seen too many starting RBs go down and have their clear handcuff available
- With both CMC and Jordan Mason on IR, effectively ending their seasons
- It should be Guerendo who is the lead back for the 49ers rest of the fantasy season
- That is a massive upgrade for a back who was the 3rd RB on the depth chart heading into the week
- He’s an athletic freak, 99th percentile and should thrive in this role
- Should be a mid-range RB2 option
- Patrick Taylor will be his handcuff
Jonathon Brooks (52%)
- On our league winners pod, I mentioned not drafting Jonathon Brooks (he was going inside the top 30 at RB, which I said was insane)
- But look for his frustrated owners potentially giving up on him
- We’ve seen that with him available in over half the leagues right now
- I still think he needs Chuba Hubbard to actually miss time in order to provide value
- But he looked pretty good on a couple of runs last week
- I wasn’t confused about his talent, he was my top back from this years class. Reminds me of prime Todd Gurley
- Coming back from an ACL tear last year
- However, I think if Hubbard were to miss time, he could easily post RB2 numbers; worth an add if you have space
Wide Receiver
Romeo Doubs (55%)
- He was likely dropped in quite a few leagues since he missed last week with a concussion
- Assuming he’s able to return for TNF, should be back in the WR4/Flex mix…might be desperate for a Flex with 6 teams on a bye
- But Doubs is the type of WR who could jump up into the WR3 range if either Jayden Reed or Christian Watson were ever to miss time
- To be clear, these aren’t the type of WRs I think you need to go out of your way to stash on your bench
- Heading into the season, I was drafting Ladd McConkey/Brian Thomas Jr. in the WR40-50 range to fill out my bench. That’s really the time to stock up at WR upside
- But for teams needing the added depth, Doubs makes sense
Tight Ends
Juwan Johnson (97%)
- Taysom Hill’s injury is going to provide more snaps/rush att/targets throughout the team
- Juwan is arguably going to benefit the most as he ran a route on 80% of Derek Carr’s dropbacks last week
- Could be even higher going forward with Hill out and given how thin their WR room is right now
- Juwan himself is a former WR so it would make sense to have him become a major part of the passing game going forward
- Giants rank 28th in DVOA against TEs
- Juwan opens the week as my TE13, thanks to the potential increase in usage rate and the fact 6 teams are on a bye
Defense
New Orleans Saints (71%)
- Hit on the Cowboys as a streamer against the Giants
- The Saints get the Giants next
- Doesn’t really matter who is under center for the Giants, Drew Lock or Tommy DeVito, there is plenty of sack potential
- Giants have the 2nd-lowest team total of the week
- Saints are widely available and are my DEF2 to open up the week
Kicker
Chase McLaughlin
- Still think he’s one of the more underrated kickers
- Made over 90% of his FGs for the 2nd straight season, that’s despite attempting a ton of longer kicks…7 of 9 from 50+
- Bucs have right around the 3rd highest team total of the week
- They are probably more willing to settle for FGs against the Raiders as 7-point favorites
- Not sure what the forecast is, but it is outdoors, it is in Florida so even a forecast this far out could change. Always double-check that once we get closer to kickoff
