The NFL Stacking Guide: Week 13

We’re heading into Week 13, and it’s getting uncomfortably close to the end of the season. Although it’s a sad reality, we must push through and make some killer daily fantasy sports lineups, so let’s look into a few stacks using our Stacking Tool. These stacks will be made using the Levitan Player Model.

QB-WR (DK): Matt Ryan-Mohamed Sanu

screen-shot-2016-12-03-at-4-10-16-pm

The Chiefs currently give up 4.6 Plus/Minus to opposing quarterbacks, and Ryan is a great tournament play due to his FantasyLabs ownership projection of two to four percent. Ryan has been impressive this season, and the Chiefs secondary is unlikely to cause him many problems, as the Chiefs are allowing QBs to score the sixth-most fantasy points on the season: 20.8 DraftKings and 19.5 FanDuel points per game. The Falcons currently have the third-highest implied Vegas total of the week.

Per our Matchups tool, Sanu is likely to spend most of the game running routes in the slot against Steven Nelson, who has a below-average Pro Football Focus coverage grade of 69.4. Sanu has been off and on all year, so he’s strictly a GPP option. He’s seen 27 targets over his last four games and Sanu makes for a solid play at low ownership.

QB-TE (FD): Cam Newton-Greg Olsen

If this isn’t the ultimate GPP stack, I’m not quite sure what is. The Seahawks defense is at home and will likely put Newton into the ground numerous times. Newton has struggled this season, but his price has dipped down low enough to make him a value, especially at his zero to one percent projected ownership.

Olsen has scored 18 fantasy points in the last three games combined! That’s not the Olsen we all know and love. Despite the poor play, Olsen is still the No. 4 TE in the Levitan Model. He currently has the second-highest Projected Plus/Minus among TEs at +4.56. His matchup isn’t as bad as it might seem, as Seattle is only 18th at defending tights ends in the passing game in Football Outsiders’ Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average.

RB-D/ST (DK): Dion Lewis-Patriots D/ST

Lewis saw his snaps increase by six percent last week, and we could be looking at another increase this week. James White played very well in Lewis’ absence, so don’t expect White to completely fade into the abyss, but with Rob Gronkowski out the Pats could shift a number of his targets to the dynamic Lewis. His 36 percent snap count is a bit concerning, but he’s just $3,800, and he could accrue points rapidly in DK’s points-per-reception format.

The Patriots defense gets to face Jared Goff, a rookie who couldn’t beat out Case Keenum at the beginning of the season and now making only his third start. He played relatively well last week at the Superdome — but that’s the Coors Field of daily fantasy football. What happens there doesn’t really count. The Pats defense is a solid defense for this week.

QB-RB-WR (FD): Matt Barkley-Jordan Howard-Marquess Wilson

screen-shot-2016-12-03-at-5-27-32-pm

Amazingly, this stack isn’t as YOLO as you’d think it would be. To almost everyone’s surprise, Barkley actually churned out a good performance last week. He chucked the ball 54 times and dropped 22 fantasy points on the Titans. It’s unlikely that he’ll repeats that performance, but there’s a reason for optimism: He’s at home against the 49ers, who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points in the NFL (21.5 DK and 20.4 FD points per game).

Howard has by far the best matchup of the week among RBs, as the 49ers have given up a Plus/Minus of +4.9 to the position. In fact, Howard, Wilson, and Barkley all have the best Opponent Plus/Minus values of the week.

Wilson seemingly came out of nowhere last week and scored an incredible 22 fantasy points. With Jeffrey on the shelf, he’ll likely be one of Barkley’s favorite targets against this week.

QB-RB-WR-WR (DK): Matt Ryan-Devonta Freeman-Mohamed Sanu-Julio Jones

As stated earlier, the Falcons have a high implied total (27.75 points), so the whole offense is in play. Julio is expected to run most of his routes against Phillip Gaines, who has a horrible PFF coverage grade of 36.2, which is literally the worst grade belonging to any starting cornerback in this slate. However, he is questionable and may miss this game.

Freeman has proved the haters wrong this year, averaging a +4.03 Plus/Minus on the season. He gets a slight boost on DK because of the PPR scoring and his ability as a receiver out of the backfield.

This stack is loaded with upside and could very well be the highest-scoring four-man stack of the week.

Good luck everyone!
