How to Bet Thursday’s Slate
How to Use FanDuel’s Bonus for March Madness
Thursday is loaded with amazing college basketball games. You can’t go wrong picking any of them to bet on. But if you’re not sure where to start, we’ve got you covered with a best bet idea. My favorite bet of the evening is Duke to cover the spread against Oral Roberts.
Every year in the NCAA Tournament, the No. 12 seeds are one of the most commonly bet on upsets in the first round. Usually the No. 12 seeds are some of the best mid-major schools that won their respective conference tournaments while the No. 5 seeds are bigger programs who have struggled throughout the season, at least by their standards. That’s true in this Duke-Oral Roberts matchup.
Oral Roberts is one of the hottest teams in the country, currently riding a 17-game winning streak. They’re led by the amazing, offensive-minded guard Max Abmas, who can fill up the scoring column like very few other players in the country.
The thing is, Duke is also one of the hottest teams in the country. After a slow start to the season, they’ve started to put all of their talent together and are starting to look like one of the most dangerous teams in the tournament. They aren’t your ordinary No. 5 seed.
Led by freshman standout Kyle Filipowski and lead guard Tyrese Proctor, Duke has just as much talent as anyone. Oral Roberts will surely be a popular public bet. People love to hate Duke and love to bet against them. Plus, the public loves to bet on the 12-5 first-round upset. I like the idea of fading those people. Duke is simply a much, much better team than Oral Roberts. I think they’ll win big.
FanDuel Sportsbook has Duke as 6.5-point favorites on the spread, and I think they’ll cover that easily, winning by double digits.

How Bonus Bets Work
You just need to bet $5 on anything to get the $200 in bonus bets. So let’s say you do that on Duke, wagering $5 at -6.5.
- If Duke covers, you win $4.45, and keep your original $5. And you’ll get the $200 in bonus bets.
- If Duke doesn’t cover, you lose that $5 but get $200 in bonus bets.
Then let’s say you want to take $50 of your bonus bets and put it on Penn State moneyline at +120.
- If Penn State covers, you win $60 ($50 x 1.2) but you don’t keep the bonus bet itself.
- If Penn State doesn’t cover, you will lose the $50.
